So as you all know we’ve been staying with Robbie’s relatives in Joburg. We’ve spent most of our time sitting in the sun relaxing- it has been absolute bliss. We’ve both had such busy summer’s working to help fund this trip that actually when we got here we were exhausted and in desperate need of a holiday- and that’s what we’ve had really. Some time to relax and recharge our batteries so that physically we’re prepared for the work that lies ahead. The time has also prepared us spiritually. I’ve had so much time to sit with my bible and to be with God praying about what lies ahead and how I’m going to cope with this huge leap of faith. All through the summer I was always busy with work or with church stuff or with friends and family I honestly found it very difficult at times to devote time specifically to reading my bible and just being with God. Now I’ve had two weeks of time with the Big Man I feel completely at ease and ready for the challenge. I’m on the right path with God and I know he is with me every step!
There was a public holiday last Monday (National Braai Day) so Rob and I spent a long weekend at Robbie’s relatives’ River house in Parys which is about an hour and a half north of Joburg (I think!!!!!). The house was absolutely gorgeous, the weather was beautiful, the surrounding were beautiful- it was perfect! I spent most of the time reading and listening to music while Robbie spent the odd hour or two fishing. Bless him he didn’t catch anything but he gave it his best shot! I also did some exploring and attempted to be like David Attenborough with little success really. Nevertheless I did manage to see some Lechwe, Wildebeest, Springbok and lots of other wildlife- it was just amazing! Managed to take a few shots on my camera- I never really got a chance to get near the animals because as soon as they saw me approach they were off- didn’t think I was that ugly from a distance!!!! At dusk the animals came close to the house as well- one night we had a small herd of Springbok feasting on the plants surrounding the house! The weekend was truly amazing- one which I’ll not forget in a long time! Again just what we needed.
I’ll leave you with a few pics from the weekend. It may be a while before I post again. All depends on how quickly we settle in, how good the internet access is and generally how much free time we get- not much I’m thinking when you’ve got 44 children to entertain!!!! Thanks for all you emails and texts. It feels great to still be connected to you all on the other side of the world- your support means so much!
